Why more of us are getting Online and buying Gifts

It is pretty safe to say that the world of shopping has dramatically changed, but what exactly is meant by this? Well only a few years ago people would opt to shop online purely out of convenience but what you have to think is that a few years ago you still had the option of going to your local high street to pick up the gifts that you wanted to buy.

In a survey that was conducted last year, 36% of people stated that they planned to spend more money online buying gifts than they would on the high street this year. Also it has been estimated that the online market in the UK will grow by 14%, bringing it to over £68 billion this year.

The growth in online shopping isn’t however just down to the fact the high street is in turmoil; it also comes from the preference of many shoppers. This is something that comes as no surprise due to the amount of advantages that ordering products online and having them delivered to your door has over trekking to the high street and queuing in shop after shop. So basically when you next have a birthday or anniversary coming up or next time mothers/fathers day or Christmas rolls around jump online, not in your car and find the perfect gifts for your loved ones.

Some of the main advantages to purchasing your gifts online as oppose to the high street include:

• You might not have time to get to the shops to buy gifts, especially round holidays such as Valentines Day and Christmas.

Some other advantages to shopping for the perfect present online is ecommerce stores have lower overheads, lower staff costs and an ability to react more quickly to market demand. Also think about it this way, you are saving petrol and parking money, which in the middle of a recession is saving you a lot more than you think!
